Myrtle Beach, SC — Nota Edges the Field in Stableford Shootout at Arrowhead

Arrowhead Country Club delivered a tight Stableford battle, with Richard Nota coming out on top with 39 points. Andy Parker finished just one point back with 38, while Bob Lenart claimed third with 37. With only two points separating the top three, every hole mattered.

Nota did more than take home the victory. He also posted the day’s best gross round with a 76 and got off to a strong start, recording six consecutive holes of par or better from the 1st through the 6th.

Lenart made his mark in the side games, capturing closest-to-the-pin honors on both the 3rd and 6th holes. Corey Davis and Kenny Smith each added a pin prize of their own.

With a tightly packed leaderboard and scoring highlights throughout the field, Arrowhead provided another competitive day of Buddy Boys Golf.

Myrtle Beach SC — Giomundo Takes South Creek Crown

Joe Giomundo showed up at Coastal Property Brokers South Creek with a plan and apparently forgot to share it with the rest of the field. After posting a tidy 77 in Round 1, Joe finished at 2-under par to claim the win by a single shot over John Moreno. Kenny Smith settled into third at even par, while Corey Davis took fourth at 1-over and led the field with three birdies or better. Corey brought the fireworks, but Joe kept the cash register ringing.

Behind the leaders, things got a little less pretty. The pack bunched up a few shots over par, and South Creek made sure nobody left thinking this game was as easy as it looks on the practice green. Andrew Tortorella put together a six-hole stretch of par or better from holes 11 through 16, proving that good golf was possible out there, at least for six holes at a time.

Then there was Bill Plag, who decided the seventh hole deserved a little extra attention. His quintuple-bogey 9 was the day’s biggest blow-up hole, a score that makes you want to put the pencil down, take a deep breath, and consider a career in shuffleboard.

Congratulations to Joe Giomundo on the win. As for the rest of the boys, there’s always next week—and a fresh opportunity to blame the greens, the wind, or whatever else happens to be available.

Calabash, N. Carolina — Batchelder Takes Control at Brunswick

Jamie Batchelder put on a show at Brunswick Plantation, topping the Stableford leaderboard with an impressive 43 points.

Batchelder backed up the score with the day’s best gross round, firing a 74 while putting together a remarkable 12-hole stretch of par or better from the 7th through the 18th. Doug Graham finished second with 40 points, followed by Tim Johnson with 38.

Behind the leaders, the field was tightly bunched, keeping the competition close throughout the day.

Andrew Tortorella posted 34 points, highlighted by three birdies or better and a closest-to-the-pin victory on the 2nd hole. Corey Davis also had a highlight of his own, recording the best single hole of the day with a birdie on the par-5 9th.

The round had its share of challenges as well. Jeff Brown finished with 10 points, while Danny Kilmartin endured a tough 9 on the 17th—a quintuple bogey that certainly made for an interesting finish.

The side games provided plenty of excitement. Joe Kilmartin was dialed in, capturing closest-to-the-pin honors on both the 4th and 16th holes. Ray Ludchak took the prize on 13, while Tortorella added another closest-to-the-pin win on the 2nd.

Brunswick rewarded good play, tested a few nerves, and once again gave the Buddy Boys plenty to talk about.

Longs, SC — Jeff Lawing Wins Another Thriller at Aberdeen

In what is becoming a regular occurrence at Buddy Boys Golf, Aberdeen once again came down to the 18th hole.

With several different players taking turns at the top of the leaderboard throughout the day, it was Jeff Lawing who ultimately emerged victorious.

Bill Plagianakos, Doug Graham, and Kevin Granger were among the early leaders, but the treacherous pin placements eventually took their toll. Andrew Tortorello then caught fire with a string of birdies, briefly putting himself in position to make a run at the title.

With just three holes remaining, the leaderboard tightened once again. Joe Kilmartin, Buddy Clay, and Lawing found themselves at the top, with all three still having a mathematical chance to win.

Lawing saved his best for last, closing out the final holes in spectacular fashion to pull away from his two closest challengers and claim the victory.

Kilmartin and Clay tied for second, while Jamie Batchelder finished fourth.

Myrtlewood Pine Hills — Glascock and Giomundo Tie for the Win at Myrtlewood

Myrtlewood did not disappoint. The course was in fabulous condition, and the competition was every bit as good.

Mac Glascock put together a string of great holes late in the round, pulling ahead and taking a two-point lead into the clubhouse.

But Joe Giomundo had other plans.

Quietly working his way into contention throughout the day, Joe came through when it mattered most, slamming home a clutch birdie putt on the 18th to pull even with Mac and earn a share of the victory.

Glascock and Giomundo finished tied for the win, while Steve Lake and Andy Parker tied for third. Jamie Batchelder, who opened with an impressive 35 on the front nine, finished fifth.

Several players made early moves up the leaderboard, but the tournament began to take shape by the ninth hole. Kenny Smith and Buddy Clay battled back and forth throughout the round until Buddy ran into trouble with a triple-bogey 7 on his 12th hole.

From there, Kenny stayed steady, continuing his run of pars while Buddy was unable to recover. Kenny secured the victory on his 17th hole.

Corey Davis finished strong, birdieing the 18th hole to claim second place. Buddy Clay, Jeffry Appleby, Andrew Tortorella, and Danny Carey shared third place.

Kings North — Kilmartin Wins at Myrtle Beach National

The Coastal Property Brokers Signature Series returned to Myrtle Beach National on Friday for the second of four Signature Series events.

Joe Kilmartin held off Corey Davis, Larry Wasserman, and Jeff Lawing to claim the victory in a dramatic finish. Joe and Larry were in the clubhouse at 3-under and 2-under, respectively, setting the stage for a tense finish.

Corey carried the pressure to the 18th hole with an opportunity to force a playoff, but could not secure the birdie he needed. Jeff’s double bogey on the final hole also took him out of contention.

To cap off an already exciting round, Corey recorded a hole-in-one during the event.

Congratulations to Joe Kilmartin on another big Buddy Boys Golf victory and to all of the players who made the second Signature Series event a memorable one.
